SIDNEY – The Sidney Lady Raiders and Red Raiders captured tournament titles in the Sidney Holiday Shootout at the Cabela’s Athletic Facility Saturday afternoon. The Lady Raiders burst from the gate to take control of the girl's championship game on the way to a win over Fillmore Central, while the Red Raiders overcame a double-digit deficit to defeat Fillmore Central in the boy's championship game.

Kayla Westby hit two of her three shots from outside the arc to propel the Lady Raiders to commanding 20-5 lead in the first quarter. 10 of Sidney’s points came off of seven first period offensive rebounds as the Lady Raiders owned the boards the entire game. Sidney’s defense held the Panthers to a single field goal in the second quarter on just one of 12 shooting to take a 30-7 lead into intermission. Sidney maintained their advantage in the second half, stretching their lead to 42-13 midway through the third quarter, winning the championship game 53-26.

Kayla West paced the Lady Raiders with 14 points as Carli Black chipped in 12 points. Sidney dominated Fillmore Central on the boards, outrebounding the Panthers 39-18. Filmore Central was led by sophomore Ali Nichols with eight points while senior MaKenna McCoy chipped in seven points.

Sidney improves to 6-3 on the season while Fillmore Central falls to 3-6.

Fillmore Central was the team that got off to the hot start in the boy’s game. 6’4” senior Dan Stoner was unstoppable early, accounting for 16 first quarter points as Fillmore Central enjoyed a 22-14 lead after one period. The Panthers stretched their advantage to 29-18 halfway through the second period, which is when Alek Doty sparked the Red Raiders comeback. The junior hit three three-pointers as Sidney went on a 13-2 run to tie the game at 31-31 at the half. The Red Raiders maintained their momentum after intermission outscoring the Panthers 21-14 in the third to take a 52-45 lead into the final stanza. Sidney opened up a double-digit lead in the fourth quarter, building a 61-47 advantage with 2:48 remaining in the game on the way to a 64-54 win.

Alek Doty finished with 24 points, Lance Holly added 12 points, and Landon Riddle chipped in eight points in the win. Fillmore Central was paced by Dan Stoner’s game-high 26 points as senior Kiffin Theobald added 14 points. Sidney stays unbeaten at 8-0 on the season while Fillmore Central falls to 5-3.

Sidney begins their 2025 schedule on Friday, January 3rd when they travel to Alliance for a Western Conference matchup with the Bulldogs.
