Elkhorn Valley Museum introduces the Nano exhibit
NORFOLK, Neb. -- Finding ways to explore and foster innovative thinking for Northeast Nebraskans, the Elkhorn Valley Museum is introducing a new exhibit called Nano. It engages those ages four to adult in nanoscale science, engineering, and technology.
It will include Hands-on exhibits that present basic nano-science and engineering. It will also introduce some real world applications and explore the societal and ethical implications of nano's new technology.
The exhibit offers museum visitors the opportunity to explore how a material called magnetite behaves, attempt to build a giant carbon nanotube, try to create a stable “nano world” with blocks on a tipping table and more!
Elkhorn Valley Museum Executive Director Libby McKay said, “People from Northeast Nebraska have always been innovative and pioneering. We wanted to find ways to continue to explore and foster that, this exhibit is an opportunity for that and perhaps a glimpse of what EVM might be able to offer more of in the future.”
The Nano exhibit will be open from Dec. 20 through the end of June and is included with regular museum admission. There are guided learning opportunities for classes, scout troops and youth groups.
