Here is the foundation’s press release

Eight students from the NCHS Class of 2023 were recently selected as the first recipients of the Richard and Melinda Kleineweber Memorial Scholarships from the Nebraska City Public School Foundation.

Each will receive a $5,000 award sent to their institution of higher education.

Thanks to a generous donation from the Richard and Melinda Kleineweber Trust, the NCPS Foundation established the Richard and Melinda Kleineweber Scholarship Endowment Fund.

The entire $1.3 million donation is invested in the endowment and the earnings are providing sizable scholarships for graduates of Nebraska City High School.

Graduates from the Class of 2023, who have successfully completed their first year of college, were asked to submit applications to the Foundation this fall.

“We were really pleased with the interest shown and the number of quality applications we received,” says Rojean Earhart, NCPS Foundation President. “Our graduates are out there working hard to further their education and we are thankful for the opportunity to support them.”

The selected recipients from the Class of 2023 are Connor Causgrove, Jaci Recker and Claire Boeche who are all attending the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Kelly Gonzalez and Ethan Graves are both attending the University of Nebraska-Omaha. Isabelle Bare is attending Oregon State University, Halle Thompson is attending Peru State College and Lucas Nielson is attending Doane University.

The Foundation anticipates awarding an additional $50,000 to students from the Class of 2024.
