PERCVIAL - The Iowa Department of Natural Resources expects over 40 parks to participate in first day hikes on New Years Day.

Staff and volunteers will lead guided first-day hikes in 26 state parks, including Waubonsie State Park. A two-mile hike begins at the Wa-Shawtee Lodge and goes through the Militia Hollow Wildlife Management Area. The Friends of Waubonsie will be providing food.

The shelter opens for a potluck at 1 p.m. Ask your internet assistant for driving directions to 2585 Waubonsie Park at Hamburg, Iowa.
