MALVERN, IA - The East Mills Wolverines defended their home court against their neighbors from Fremont-Mills on Friday, grabbing a doubleheader sweep on the basketball court, as heard on B103. The EM ladies grabbed a 40-28 victory, while the Wolverine guys walked away with a 64-27 win.

In the girls' game, Ava Grindle led East Mills with 15 points, while Caitlyn Crouse finished with a dozen. Fremont-Mills turned the ball over 26 times & hit just 1/22 from downtown. Carlie Nuckols & Lana Alley led the squad with eight points apiece, with Nuckols tacking on six steals. Fremont-Mills is now 1-1 on the season, while East Mills sits at 3-1.

For the guys, it was Jackson Embree turning in a double-double for the host squad, finishing with 19 points & 11 rebounds. Mason Camden added 15 points; and Sheldon Vandenberg had a full stat line with ten points, seven boards, and five assists. Mason Reed hit for ten points on the Fremont-Mills side. East Mills ended up plus-ten in rebounding, and the team had half as many turnovers as FM, 22-11. Fremont-Mills slipped to 0-2 on the season, while East Mills bumped up to 2-0.
