GRANT, Neb. — The Bridgeport girls and boys basketball teams opened their 2024-25 basketball season in dominant fashion Friday night, with both teams securing victories over Perkins County.

Senior Tacey From led the Bulldogs in the girls game with 23 points, including 10 in the first quarter, and Bridgeport defeated the Plainswomen, 61-44. Junior Jailyn Nichols added 11 points, while junior Ella Schluterbusch contributed 9. The Bulldogs' defense forced 31 Perkins County turnovers.

Perkins County was led by sophomore Madison Potts with 14 points, including three 3-pointers, and freshman Kamryn Klockman, who added 11 points off the bench.

The Bulldogs shot 5-for-11 from the free-throw line, while Perkins County connected on 18 of 25 attempts.

In the boys' game, Bridgeport used 20 points from junior Gage Nein to lead them to a 69-48 victory.

Sophomore Hayes Watts scored 17 points, all in the first half, including three consecutive 3-pointers during a 15-2 opening run. Junior Sophomore Landon Dean chipped in 10.

Perkins County’s senior Ryder Potts scored 10 points.

Both Bulldogs teams are 1-0 and will face North Platte St. Patrick’s on Saturday. Perkins County’s boys (1-1) and girls (0-2) will host Haxtun (Colo.) on Tuesday.
