Drivers injured in 'wrong way' Thanksgiving Day crash
NEBRASKA CITY - The Otoe County Sheriff’s Office reports a wrong-way driver was involved in an injury accident on Highway 2 before dawn on Thanksgiving Day.
Investigators say a 17-year-old Tecumseh boy was driving a pickup truck the wrong way in the eastbound lanes of the highway and collided with a truck and semi-trailer.
The teen was taken by medical helicopter to a Lincoln trauma center.
The driver of the truck, a 66-year-old Wellston, Ohio, man, and a 70-year-old passenger were taken by ambulance to hospitals.
The accident was just two days after another wrong-way accident on the stretch of the highway between Lancaster County and Unadilla.
In May, a Tecumseh woman was killed in a wrong-way, Highway 2 accident east of Syracuse.

On November 28, 2024, at 5:52 am, the Otoe County Sheriff's Office, Nebraska State Patrol, along with fire
and rescue units from Unadilla and Syracuse responded to a two-vehicle injury crash west of Unadilla on
Highway 2, near the County Road G intersection.
The investigation indicates that a Chevrolet pickup was traveling west on Highway 2 in the eastbound traffic lane, colliding head-on with a semi-truck.
The driver of the pickup truck, a 17-year-old Tecumseh male was flown from the scene to a Lincoln hospital
with serious injuries.
The driver of the truck, a 66-year-old Wellston Ohio male was transported to the hospital in Syracuse.His passenger, a 70-year-old Richmond Indiana male. was transported by ambulance to a Lincoln hospital.
The Otoe County Sheriff’s Office is continuing the investigation into the crash.
UNADILLA – Emergency crews responded to a suspected head-on collision on Highway 2 west of Unadilla before sunrise on Thanksgiving Day.
911 dispatchers received a call about 5:56 a.m. about an accident in the eastbound lanes involving a truck and semi-trailer and smaller vehicle.
Multiple ambulances and a medical helicopter were dispatched for the accident near Road 18.
Both drivers were injured.
The Otoe County Sheriff's Office is investigating.
