Eldon Ebeler, 80, of Crab Orchard
Eldon Arthur Henry Ebeler was born to Carl and Alvera (Bartels) Ebeler on September 16, 1944 in Auburn, Nebraska.
He grew up with his family on a farm near Johnson and was baptized October 22, 1944 and confirmed September 14, 1958 by Rev. Fruehling at the Martin Luther Church, south of Johnson, Nebraska. Eldon graduated from Tecumseh High School in 1962.
He served his country in the Army National Guard from March 18, 1965 to his honorable discharge on May 23, 1970.
He was united in marriage to E. Kay Lovitt on June 24, 1971, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Steinauer, Nebraska. Kay and Eldon lived in Vesta, Nebraska, but later moved to Crab Orchard, Nebraska, where they resided until his death.
Eldon farmed until the mid-eighties. He also worked at the elevator in St. Mary’s, Nebraska, for several years and then for Johnson County. He was a life time member of Martin Luther Church. He also helped care for many family members over his life time. Eldon was loved and respected in his community.
Eldon passed away Thursday, November 21, 2024 at the CHI Lakeside Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska at the age of 80 years.
He is survived by his wife of Elizabeth Kay of Crab Orchard, brother Ron Ebeler and wife Vera of Tecumseh and sister Shirley McPherrin of Tecumseh, brothers and sisters in law, Wayne Eltiste of Tecumseh, Jay R. Lovitt and wife Ingrid of Lincoln, Lou Ann Linehan of Elkhorn, Kevin Linehan of Omaha and Leon Lovitt and wife Wendy of Elk Creek, numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
Eldon was preceded in death by his parents, brother Lonnie Ebeler, sisters Betty Workman and husband Bob and Lois Eltiste, sister-in-law Jean Ebeler, brother-in-law Robert McPherrin and parents in law Scott and Mary Lucille Lovitt.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, November 27, 2024 at the Martin Luther Church, rural Johnson, Nebraska with Rev. Ken Tubbesing officiating.
Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., with family greeting friends from 4-6 p.m. Tuesday, November 26, 2024 at the Wherry Mortuary in Tecumseh, Nebraska.
Memorials may go to the Martin Luther Church or the Avenue of Flags.
Interment will be at 1:30 p.m. in the Vesta Cemetery, rural Tecumseh, Nebraska with full military honors.
