NEBRASKA CITY - The Otoe County Sheriff’s Office reports a pedestrian fatality early Tuesday morning on Highway 2 near the north Highway 75 interchange at Nebraska City.

A press release says 18-year-old Harrell Jackson Jr. of Omaha had been walking in the dark in a traffic lane on the Highway 2 on-ramp when he was struck by a vehicle driven by a 43-year-old Nebraska City woman.

On November 19, 2024, at 5:04 am, the Otoe County Sheriff's Office responded to a call of a pedestrian wearing dark colored clothing walking in the roadway on the Hwy 2 near Nebraska City and the North Hwy 75 interchange. As deputies were responding to the area, the pedestrian had been struck by a vehicle.

Responding deputies, Nebraska City Fire and Rescue arrived and attempted lifesaving measures to the pedestrian, who was declared deceased at the scene.

A preliminary investigation indicates that 18-year-old Harrell Jackson Jr. of Omaha was walking in the dark, in the traffic lane on the Hwy 2 on-ramp, when Jackson was struck by a westbound vehicle driven by a 43-year-old Nebraska City female.

The Otoe County Sheriff’s Office is continuing the investigation into the crash.
