Machete draws felony charge in Otoe County

NEBRASKA CITY- Kevin Moore, 33, of Auburn is charged in Otoe County with possession of a deadly weapon on Nov. 8.
A Nebraska State Patrol affidavit says Moore’s Chevrolet Impala was stopped on Highway 2 and a state trooper observed a machete on the passenger seat and found a two-foot pipe with taped handle during a search. The affidavit says Moore told the state trooper the machete was used for cutting weeds.
The affidavit says Moore has felony convictions for strangulation and assault in 2016.
In other county court cases, Daniel Carey, 45, of Syracuse is charged in Otoe County with possession on Nov. 8. An Otoe County Sheriff’s Office affidavit says Carey was stopped on Highway 2 and a police service dog was deployed. A sheriff’s deputy says 2.8 grams of meth was seized.
