NEBRASKA CITY – An Auburn man added to Nebraska’s crash statistics involving deer Tuesday with an accident on the J. Sterling Morton Beltway near Steinhart Park Road.

Richard Haith, 47, denied medical transport after his Nissan Maxima sustained front-end damage in a collision with a deer at 7:45 p.m.

The Nebraska Department of Transportation reports 2,412 animal-vehicle collisions in 2020. Nebraska Game and Parks says drivers has a 1 in 140 chance of collided with an animal.

Fall is an active time for deer movement because of breeding season and crop harvesting.
