JOHNSON, NE - Johnson Brock came into the postseason 6-2 and #8 on the east side of the Class D1 NSAA Bracket. They have been in the playoffs ten-straight years, but Thayer Central didn't care about their history as the Titans toppled the Eagles, 36-30.

This thriller started out with Thayer Central on offense and finding paydirt right away as their star running back Sam Souerdyke struck first with an eight-yard touchdown run and an 8-0 lead. Johnson-Brock was unable to find a rhythm on its first drive, going 3-and-out. Thayer-Central tacked on another TD scamper on its next drive, as an 11-yard run made it 16-0 Thayer Central.

Needing an answer, Johnson-Brock drove down the field before the drive stalled at the 1-yard line. On fourth down , running back Grady Behrends took the end around and passed it to Casen Dalinghaus for the score, making it 16-8.

On Thayer Central's next drive, Laken Wiedel's pass is intercepted by Brody Koehler at the Eagles' 29-yard line. Taking advantage of the takeaway, Wyatt Fulton throws it up to Casen Dalinghaus in the end zone and it's caught for a 15-yard score, as the game is tied at 16 at the break.

The second half gets going with the Eagles on offense. They're unable to get anything going on their first drive, but an amazing punt by Brody Koehler flipped the field and pinned Thayer Central at its own 5-yard line.

After a Titan punt, Johnson Brock took the lead on a 3-yard run from Wyatt Fulton, making it 24-16 Eagles. Thayer Central drovev right down the field as Wiedel took it 29 yards to the house. The 2 point conversion was no good, however, keeping J-B on top, 24-22.

Johnson-Brock then went 3-and-out before the TC QB put his team back on top as Wiedel housed a 52-yard TD run for a 30-24 Thayer Central lead. Looking to answer, Johnson-Brock’s Wyatt Fulton was picked off by Lukas Kroll.

Souerdyke followed by giving TC a two-score advantage, thanks to a 13-yard TD run that made it 36-24. Johnson-Brock scored one more time on a 45-yard strike to Casen Dalinghaus courtesy of Wyatt Fulton that made it 36-30, but time would run out on the Eagles' season after that.

Thayer Central moves on to face Crofton in the next round of the Class D1 playoffs.
