NEBRASKA CITY, NE - The Lourdes Central Catholic Knights defended their home turf on Thursday as they knocked Wisner-Pilger out of the playoffs in first round action, 42-30.

Blue Oggs got the scoring started quickly, finding paydirt on the ground from 34 yards away just 29 seconds into it to give the host squad a 6-0 lead. With just 25 seconds left in the first, Levi Anthens ran it in from nine yards away for a 12-0 lead after the opening frame.

Callen Schnitzer connected with Oggs on a 4-yard touchdown toss with 2:44 left in the first half to build a 20-0 lead, but with a mere 53 ticks left on the clock, Wisner-Pilger got on the board with a short run from Jaxon Knoell to make it 20-6 at the break.

Knoell's second TD run of the game started the scoring in half number two, putting Wisner-Pilger within one score at 20-12 with 6:59 left in the third frame. Alec Schnitzer responded on the next snap for LCC, running the rock 51 yards for a score just 14 seconds later. Knoell wouldn't go away, though, tacking on a third TD carry with 2:01 left in the third. As the fourth quarter began, Lourdes led, 26-18.

In the final frame, Callen connected with Brady for a "Schnitzer score" from 11 yards away to put the Knights up 34-18 only seven seconds into the quarter. Walker Ott put the Gators on the board again with a 3-yard run that made it 34-24 with 7:16 to go. Callen Schnitzer added a 1-yard TD run with 3:48 left, before Knoell added his fourth TD run to finish the scoring with 98 seconds to play, as LCC advanced, 42-30.

Oddly enough, the Gators had a narrow lead in yardage, 342-325, and held a 2-0 advantage in turnovers as LCC fumbled the ball away twice. W-P had three drives of at least ten plays, while LCC didn't have any.

Lourdes CC is now re-seeded at #12. They'll visit #5 Dundy County Stratton on Friday, Nov. 1.
