NEBRASKA CITY, NE - The Lourdes Central Catholic Knights wound down the regular season with a 34-24 win over a strong Johnson-Brock squad on Thursday night. Each team ends the season with a record of 6-2 as they await their destination in playoff brackets this weekend.

LCC's Callen Schnitzer got the scoring started with a 13-yard touchdown run, but the Knights failed on the 2-point conversion attempt. That left the score at 6-0 with 5:32 to go in the first quarter. Just 66 seconds later, JB responded with a 48-yard TD toss from Wyatt Fulton to Austin Meyer. With a successful 2-point conversion run, the Eagles led 8-6.

LCC regained the lead with just 2:21 to go in the second quarter when Schnitzer ran it in again, this time from 18 yards away. Schnitzer used his legs for a successful 2-point conversion, and LCC was up at recess, 14-8.

Just over a minute into quarter number three, Schnitzer hit Oscar Krog on a 48-yard TD toss, giving the Knights a 22-8 lead. The Eagles' Quinten Behrends answered with an 8-yard TD carry, but Schnitzer's third TD run of the game put LCC on top 28-16 as the third quarter closed.

In the final frame, Behrends found the end zone with a 32-yard run to make it a 4-point game just 13 seconds into the fourth quarter. Schnitzer would finish the scoring for the evening, tacking on a fourth TD run with just over three minutes to play for the 34-24 win.

LCC held an unofficial 383-209 lead in yardage on the night. Both teams threw for just over 100 yards, but the ground attack of Lourdes CC gave them nearly 200 extra yards. Lourdes CC had the only turnover of the evening on an interception.

Both teams will move on to postseason play next Thursday, October 24.
