Fire hazard reaches severe level
Syracuse Fire Department urges residents to reconsider any activity that might spark a fire
SYRACUSE - The Syracuse Volunteer Fire Department is urging compliance with a burn ban, noting an increase in fire hazards Thursday and Friday.
A Facebook post says strong winds and dry conditions are combining for the most severe risks this fall.
SVFD: “We urge all residents to reconsider any activities that might spark a fire.”
The fire department says if harvest work can not be delayed until conditions improve, operators should be prepared with nearby tillage equipment.

SVFD: “Establish a clear communication plan with anyone assisting you and ensure everyone knows your exact location and address in case of an emergency.”
The Nebraska Emergency system was activated Thursday at 4:15 p.m. dangerous wildfire east of David City.
