Juveniles on UTV injured in Sunday accident
TALMAGE – The Otoe County Sheriff’s Office reports an injury accident Sunday involving a pickup truck and juveniles on a UTV.
A press release says deputies arrived at the scene and began providing medical aid and lifesaving measures to four juvenile victims from the UTV until medics from Talmage, Nebraska City and Syracuse rescue squads arrived. One juvenile was taken by medical helicopter to Bryan Health in Lincoln. The others were taken to Syracuse Area Health and were later transferred to the Lincoln hospital.
Investigators say the UTV was southbound on Road 38 and struck the eastbound pickup at the intersection of Highway 128.
The press release says the driver of the pickup, 41-year-old Patrick Schreither of rural Nebraska City, was not injured.

On October 13, 2024, at 11:12 am, the Otoe County Sheriff's Office responded to a two-vehicle injury crash at the intersection of Hwy 128 and County Road 38 involving a pickup truck and a UTV with multiple people injured. Deputies arrived at the scene and began providing medical aid and lifesaving measures to four juvenile victims from the UTV until fire and rescue agencies from Talmage, Nebraska City and Syracuse responded to provide medical care.
One juvenile from the UTV was flown from the scene by helicopter to Bryan Health in Lincoln. The other juveniles from the UTV were transported to Syracuse Area Health and later transferred to Bryan Health for serious injuries.
The driver of the pickup, 41-year-old, Patrick Schreither of rural Nebraska City was not injured.
A preliminary investigation indicates the UTV was traveling southbound on County Road 38, struck the pickup at the intersection as it was traveling eastbound on Hwy 128.
The Otoe County Sheriff's Office is continuing the investigation.
