LAMONI, IA - The Peru State football team fell to the Graceland Yellowjackets, 43-35, on Saturday afternoon. The Bobcats are now 1-1 in the Heart of America Conference and 3-2 overall.
 
The Bobcats struck early in the first quarter with a 40-yard touchdown pass from Colin Shields to Daylan Jones. The Yellowjackets had a safety leading to their first points of the game. Gus Bashmore scored the final points of the first quarter with a fieldgoal. The Bobcats led 10-2.

Jordan Kempf had a 44-yard rush to score the first touchdown of the second quarter. Marion Ponds had an interception for the Bobcats following the touchdown. Colin Shields had a six-yard pass to Jordan Kempf to score the Bobcats final touchdown of the half. The Bobcats led 24-15 at the break.
 
In the third quarter, the Bobcats were unable to score any points and found themselves trailing going to the fourth.

Gus Bashmore had a fieldgoal in the fourth quarter as the Bobcats tried to make a comeback as they were only down 29-27. Colin Shields had a 33-yard pass to Richard Ransom to score a touchdown for the Bobcats' final score of the game. The Bobcats fell 43-35.

The Bobcats had 260 passing yards and 198 rushing yards against the Yellowjackets.
 
Colin Shields had 20 completions for 260 yards resulting in three touchdowns with the longest being 50 yards. Daylan Jones had eight receptions for 102 yards and one touchdown. Jordan Kempf had two receptions for 56 yards and one touchdown. Kaleb Herbel had six receptions for 48 yards.
 
Stacian Livingston piled up 113 rushing yards. Jordan Kempf had 91 rushing yards with one touchdown.
 
Gio Contreras had six total tackles with five solo tackles. Jakari Starling and Grant Gutschow had five total tackles with four solo. Daylan Jones added five total tackles with two solo. Duke McClinton and Damien Dee each had four tackles with two solo.
 
Next: The Bobcats will return for Homecoming on October 19 against William Penn University. Kickoff is set for 1:00pm.
