SOUTH BEND - The Cass County Sheriff’s Office reports the arrest of burglary suspects Tuesday after deputies responded to a report of suspicious activity at a rural location between South Bend and Interstate 80.

Christian Reinke, 26, of Deshler and Benjamin Abney, 30, of Omaha are suspected of possession of stolen property.

A sheriff’s office press release says a deputy found a handgun that had been stolen out of Jefferson County in Reinke’s possession in a pat down search after Reinke was observed walking toward South Bend. Abney is suspected of possession of burglar tools.

The sheriff says both men are suspects in burglaries in Jefferson County.
