Nebraska Memorial Forest dedication planned
Horning State Farm to host dedication Oct. 18
PLATTSMOUTH – Honor and Remember Nebraska Chapter and the Nebraska Forest Service will hold a dedication for the Nebraska Memorial Forest project at Horning State Farm at Plattsmouth at 11 a.m. on Oct. 18.
The forest service led the planting of 50, 6’ to 7’ trees and Honor and Remember worked on signage for the Memories Take Root forest story.
The program includes presentation of the colors by Louisville American Legion, Jim Meier with an overview of the statewide Nebraska Memorial Forest program, remarks by Plattsmouth Mayor Paul Lambert and a family member of a fallen Cass County hero.
The Nebraska Memorial Forest was an idea in 2019 to plant a tree for every Nebraska fallen military and first responder hero. The 7,500 trees would be in groves of 50 or more trees.
