NEBRASKA CITY – Nebraska City and Rulo are among scheduled stops for a full-sized keelboat voyage with re-enactors engaging the public about the Lewis & Clark Expedition in 1803 to 1806.

The Lewis & Clark Discovery Expedition of Saint Charles, Mo., is taking the 121-mile voyage down the Missouri River beginning Oct. 3 at the landing near the Lewis and Clark National Trail’s Visitor Center at Omaha. It is scheduled to end Oct. 14 at Kaw Point Park in Kansas City, Kan.

The voyage is part of the National Park Service’s first Lewis and Clark Expo Oct. 4-5 at Omaha’s riverfront.

The boat is expected to arrive at the Riverview Marina at Nebraska City and camp at the replica of Fort Camp Dubois at the Lewis and Clark Visitor Center for two nights.

The crew will depart Nebraska City Oct. 9 and float downriver to Rulo.

 

Itinerary

October 3: The keelboat will be on display within Lewis & Clark Landing at The River Front in The River Front Plaza.

October 4-5: National Park Service's Lewis and Clark Expo!

October 6: The keelboat will be moved by truck to Bellevue, where it will be moored.

 

October 7: The boat departs to Riverview Marina State Recreation Area at Nebraska City. 

October 8: The crew and boat will be available to the public at the MRB Lewis & Clark Center.

October 9:  The boat will depart and float to Rulo, where the public will be able to visit the boat and re-enactors.

October 10: Depart Rulo for Atchison Kan.

October 10-13: The keelboat arrives at Atchison, Kan., where it will be tied up at the Veterans Memorial at the Riverfront Park complex.

October 13: The boat will travel to the Lewis and Clark Riverfront Park at Kaw Paw. Public viewing at 5 p.m.

October 14: The keelboat and re-enactors will be at the riverfront park at Kaw Point—but leaving at noon—and available to the public.
