Pioneers Pound Peru State as Bobcats Suffer First Loss of the Season

OLATHE, KS - The Peru State Bobcats traveled to Olathe Kansas to take on the MidAmerica Nazarene Pioneers. The Bobcats fell 6-53 in the matchup. The Bobcats are now 2-1 overall.
The Bobcats struggled to find their footing, with the game slipping away early in the first half. The first half proved difficult for Peru State, as they were unable to score any points and found themselves trailing 50-0 at halftime.
In the second half, Chandler Cotton had an 11-yard rush to score a Bobcats touchdown. These would be the only points on the board for Peru State. The Bobcat defense held the Pioneers to only a field goal in the second half.
Colin Shields had nine completions on 30 attempts for 62 yards. His longest pass was 18 yards. Chandler Cotton had nine rushing attempts with a gain of 61 yards and a touchdown. Ricky Fulton had a gain of 33 yards with seven attempts. Gio Contreras had two receptions for 25 yards with Jordan Kempf having three receptions for 21 yards.
Ashley Thompson had nine total tackles with six being solo. Jaylen Jean-Louis had eight total tackles with six being solo. Ja-Quez Oliver had six solo tackles with Duke Mcclinton having five total tackles with four being solo against the Pioneers. Marion Ponds had four tackles and one interception.
The Bobcats return to the Oak Bowl to take on the Missouri Baptist Spartans at 6:00pm this Saturday, September 21. It is also Teacher Appreciation Night! All teachers get free admission to the game!
