Knights Start the Season Strong Against Falls City-Sacred Heart
FALLS CITY, NE - The Lourdes Central Catholic Knights started the season with a dominant road win over Falls City-Sacred Heart on Friday, 60-8.
The Knights scored on their first two drives of the game as new starting quarterback Callen Schnitzer ran it in from 14 yards & 44 yards out for a 16-0 advantage less than five minutes into play. Looking to change the momentum, Falls City-Sacred Heart's Cooper Knobbe recovered a fumble from LCC running back Bob Honeysuckle on the next Lourdes drive. Brady Schnitzer took it right back with an interception of Tate Wilcox, however, giving the Knights good field position to set up a 2-yard TD run by Honeysuckle and a 24-0 lead at the end of the first frame.
In the second quarter, Levi Anthens added a 15-yard TD carry, Honeysuckle ran it in from nine yards out, and Blue Oggs added a 23-yard pick six for a 48-0 Lourdes CC lead at the break.
With a running clock after the break, the second half moved swiftly. Highlights for Lourdes CC included Dominic Schizas turning in the third interception of the night for the Knights, Alec Schnitzer tacking on a 19-yard TD run, and Simon Bruggeman adding a 4-yard TD carry. The Irish were able to get on the board with a 46-yard TD toss from Wilcox to Cole Taft with just under ten minutes to go.
