It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Chelsy Lynn Hess, born on November 5, 1992, who left us far too soon on August 15, 2024. Chelsy was a beloved mother, daughter, sister, and friend whose love for life was truly inspiring.

Chelsy’s world revolved around her two cherished sons, Waylon William Smith and Bentley Aaron Smith. They were her pride and joy, the light of her life, and her greatest purpose. Her love for them was boundless and evident in everything she did.

Chelsy grew up in Lorimor, Iowa, alongside her sisters Ashley Hess and Brittany (Hess) Grandfield. She graduated from Murray High School in 2011 and carried the warmth of her small-town upbringing throughout her life. Her infectious sense of humor, kindness, and loving nature made her a treasured friend to many. Those who knew her would describe her as beautiful, fun-loving, and sweet—a true light in their lives.

At the time of her passing, Chelsy was living in Olathe, Kansas. She found her calling as a travel nurse. Her caring spirit and dedication to helping others made her exceptional in her profession. She enjoyed spending time with her boyfriend, Sam, in Shawnee.  She had a deep love for the outdoors, fishing, kayaking, being on the water, cooking, horses, crafting and all things western. Chelsy shared many wonderful moments with her family and friends, embracing life’s joys with an open heart and creating lasting memories with her boys.

Chelsy is survived by her sons, Bentley and Waylon; her mother, Paula Hess; her father, Jesse Hess, and his wife, Elsie Hess; her sisters, Brittany Grandfield, Ashley Hess, Abby Hess, and Arrabelle Hess; her nieces, June Grandfield and Leorah Jones; her nephews, Wyatt Grandfield, Lawrence Jones, and Lovelle Jones; as well as many extended family members and friends. They will never forget the love, happiness, and laughter she brought to their lives.

Chelsy’s memory will forever be cherished by all who knew and loved her. She leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and beautiful memories that will be held close in the hearts of her family and friends.

Her spirit will live on in her sons, in the hearts of her family, and in the countless lives she touched.  May she rest in peace.
