NEBRASKA CITY – The Nebraska City City Council is scheduled to meet at 6 p.m on Aug. 19.

The agenda includes public hearings on a $1 million loan from the Nebraska City Economic Growth Funds to Goodlife Agriculture for an aquaculture facility at 6219 G Road, rezoning of the north industrial site and blight and substandard redevelopment area 6. A forgivable loan agreement is proposed.

The loan would be eligible for partial forgiveness based on payroll figures.

The proposed project consists of the construction and operation of an aquaculture facility on approximately 27 acre plot of land located at 6219 G Road. The company identifies a need for sustainable protein production as a food source for the region. The project is expected to provide 3,000 metric tons per year. Plans are to break ground this fall with an 18 to 24-month construction time.

A public hearing is also scheduled on the city’s one and six-year street plan.

The Wildwood Historic House is seeking a $17,500 grant.

The Board of Public Works proposes replacing the north First Street wastewater creek crossing at a cost of $576,000.

The one-year plan has new concrete and storm sewer on Fifth Rue from Fifth Terrace to Oakview Drive for $730,000 and a concrete bike trail along Orchard Drive from the north 11th Street bridge to the softball complex for $500,000.

The six-year plan includes $2 million for 10th Street from First to 10th avenue and $1.7 million for Central Avenue from 12th to 22nd streets.
