Peru State College MBB Player Wins Emil S. Liston Award for the HAAC
PERU, NE - Peru State Athletics is excited to announce and congratulate Amir Poat on being the Heart of America candidate for the Emil S. Liston Award.
The Emil S. Liston award recognizes both academic and athletic excellence by junior Basketball student-athletes. In order to qualify for the award, a student-athlete must be an active member of the NAIA, have an overall GPA that exceeds 3.5 and show athletic and academic achievement.
Junior Amir Poat was announced as the Hearts Men's Basketball Emil S. Liston Award winner on Monday, July 28. Poat will move on as a candidate to be voted for the Emil S Liston Award at the National Level. The winner will be announced on September 15th.
Amir was part of the Heart of America Athletic Conference Championship team while also accelerating in the classroom. Amir also helps in many different departments around campus.
When asked about Amir, Coach Gentry said:
"Amir is not only a standout athlete but also a role model and mentor to his peers and teammates. His positive attitude, integrity, and work ethic inspire those around him."
