GoodLife Agriculture, museum funds, AppleJack requests on tonight's council meeting agenda
NEBRASKA CITY - The Nebraska City Community Development Agency is scheduled to meet at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 5, at the Rowe Safety Complex regarding tax increment financing for GoodlLife Agriculture.
Meeting records say GoodLife Agriculture is making an application for $12 million in tax increment financing in support of a $190 million Atlantic salmon production project. The company lists 40 to 52 employees depending on product and byproduct distribution agreements.
The application estimates the improvements will generate $480,000 in property taxes once construction is complete in the spring of 2027.
A city council meeting will follow with an agenda of the museum growth fund application, park trash cans and AppleJack Festival requests.
The city proposes changes to the ATV license ordinance, new water tap fees, approving a job description for assistant parks and recreation director, rescue wages and an agreement with the Fraternal Order of Police.
The parks department is seeking a $30,000 Nebraska Department of Environment and Energy grant to replace existing trash cans in the parks with 100, 95-gallon, two-wheel trash bins with hydraulic cart tipper.
A proposed ordinance would sell the depot to the Nebraska City Area EDC for $32,500
The ATV ordinance sets a $100 annual fee, but the fee is $50 if registered between July and December.
The Nebraska City Museum Association said the city’s grant of $24,500 was distributed among six participating museums to supplement the cost of hiring part-time seasonal attendants and allowing Nebraska City residents access to the museums at no charge.
Museum Coordinator Dean Shissler reports 11,705 visitors in 2023. The numbers do not include Arbor Lodge State Historical Park, which joined the association midway through 2023.
