SYRACUSE - The Otoe County Fair is scheduled July 25 to 28 with the theme Barn in the USA and special open class events.

The Janky to Swanky contest challenges Otoe County adults to pick up a janky item on July 8 and enter it July 24 as a repurposed swanky item.

Barn quilts of wood painted boards with quilt design will also be entered Wednesday.

Entry for the fruit pie contest is 5:30 to 6 p.m. Thursday, July 25, at the Kimmel south hall.

A special salsa contest is also planned for county residents age 10 and older. Enter Friday from 5:30 to 6 p.m.

Events begin Sunday, July 21, with the 4-H dog show at 6 p.m.
