Possible drowning at Beaver Lake

 BEAVER LAKE – The Cass County Sheriff’s Office reports a possible drowning at Beaver Lake near Plattsmouth on July 3.

The sheriff’s office, Murray Fire and Rescue, Cass County Emergency Medical Services and Cass County Emergency Management responded to a report of CPR in progress at 9:14 a.m.

The sheriff’s office press release says 82-year-old Richard Pflugfelder of Colorado was transported to Bellevue Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

Pflugfelder was reportedly visiting relatives in the area. Initial witness statements suggest he was kayaking without a lifejacket when the kayak capsized.
