NORFOLK - An economic leader in northeast Nebraska is being recognized statewide for her efforts.

Norfolk Economic Development Director Candice Alder was named the 2024 Nebraska Economic Developers Association (NEDA) Local Professional of the Year, at NEDA's recent annual conference.

NEDA officials say the award recognizes Alder's contributions to significant economic growth in the Norfolk area over the past several years.

City officials say during her time in economic development, Norfolk has seen over $500 million in new construction and expansion projects by businesses and industries since 2017. The community has also added an estimated 1,100 new housing units valued at $156 million during that time.

"I'm honored to receive this prestigious award from NEDA," said Alder. "The progress we've achieved is really a testament to the collaborative efforts of our growth-minded business leaders, engaged community, and many partners."

Alder also chaired the local planning committee for the 2024 NEDA Annual Conference in Norfolk, where she was presented the award by 2023 NEDA Professional of the Year and Phelps County Development Corporation Executive Director Ron Tillery.
