Severe thunderstorm watch until 11 p.m.

Heat advisory:

The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for River Country from noon to 7 p.m. on Thursday.

Hot temperatures and high  humidity may causes heat illness. This is the first very hot weather of the  year, which can cause heat illness to occur more easily than normal.

The warned area includes Otoe, Johnson, Nemaha, Pawnee and Richardson counties in Nebraska.

A portion of northeast Cass County is included in a severe thunderstorm warning  until 9:45 p.m.

The National Weather Service issued the warning for Mills and Pottawattamie counties in Iowa.

At 8:52 p.m., radar located a storm over southwestern Council Bluffs moving southeast at 30 mph.

The warned area includes Pacific Junction, Beaver lake, Interstate 29 and Interstate 80.

9:40 p.m. – Severe thunderstorm warning for Fremont County, NE Cass county until 10:30 p.m. 9:45 p.m. 2” hail reported in Bellevue.

9:29 p.m. – Emergency manager reports 2.5” hail in SW of Council Bluffs. 2” hail near Bellevue University.

9 p.m. – The public reports 2” hail near Bennington. Trained spotter reports 2.5” hail near Fort Calhoun. Trained spotter reports 1.75” hail (golf ball size) near Benson High School.

 

 

8 p.m. – Storm prediction center reports supercell cluster near Nebraska/Iowa border north of Omaha. The cells have a potential for hail and are moving southeast. The potential for severe weather will persist as long as these supercells persist.
