SYRACUSE – The Nebraska State Patrol reports an accident fatality on Highway 2 near Syracuse at 10:55 p.m. on Saturday.

A GMC Sierra was traveling south on 34th Road and approaching the highway. The GMC entered the intersection and was struck by an eastbound Jeep Grand Cherokee in the eastbound lanes of Highway 2.

Both vehicles came to rest in the southeast ditch.

The state patrol says neither driver was injured, but a passenger in the Grand Cherokee was pronounced deceased on scene.

 That person was identified as Anna White, 87, of St. Joseph, Mo. A juvenile passenger of the GMC Sierra was transported to Children’s Hospital in Omaha with serious injuries, but they are not expected to be life threatening. The crash is still under investigation.
