SYRACUSE - Otoe County Museum of Memories is kicking off its 2024 season with "Music at the Museum.”

Local artist Madison Kreifels is being featured at the event on June 9, from 1:30 to 3 p.m. Bring your lawn chairs, loved ones, and enjoy.

Share in the history of Syracuse and your ancestry by touring the museum.  The museum is open on Sunday's or by appointment each year from May to September.

The Otoe County Museum of Memories volunteers have created a display window at the corner of 5th and Thorne Street featuring local artists and their crafts.  The current display features items from Loran Chandler, Ralph Sheppard and Dr. Harold Gately. This display depicts only a small part of the history to be seen in the three buildings located at 366 Poplar St.

In the 3 museum buildings you will find the Edison Room, A big game trophy room, A period living room, old time butcher shop and much more.

A second display will be featured for the months of July through Sept. 2.

You can learn how the museum evolved from being home to the First Lutheran Congregational church, built in 1881, to today. The grounds also include an Herb Garden started by Rose and Gary Garey of Syracuse, which is now being cared for by volunteers of the museum.
