PERU  – Nearly 40 Peru State College undergraduate students recently participated in the college’s annual Research and Creativity Expo held on April 9.

The Expo, which was initially established as the result of the College’s strategic plan, began in 2019 to increase student engagement and learning while leading to increased student success.

President Dr. Michael Evans reflected on the Research and Creativity Expo shared, “It is great to see the results of a lot of hard work, serious research, and abundant curiosity from our students. The Expo is a great chance for them to demonstrate not only the process and results of their research, but also their command of the material, ability to answer challenging questions, and skill at translating their work into terms everyone can understand. Our institution is impressed with the posters and presentations we saw.”

Other members of the committee included Dr. Paul Hinrichs – Dean of Arts & Sciences and Interim Dean of Professional Studies; Dr. Greg Seay – Interim Dean of Education; Dr. Jason Phillips – Assistant Professor of History; Laura Lippman – Assistant Professor of Theatre Arts; Rebekka Rinne – Marketing Coordinator; Skye Hicks – Academic Advisor for School of Professional Studies; Dr. Stacy Bliss – Assistant Professor of Psychology; Dr. Frank Lynott – Associate Professor of Health, Physical Education, and Recreation; and Veronica Meyer – Library Director.

Presentations were both oral and creative projects and were held in the Jindra Black Box and CATS Conference room. The students provided short talks which were followed by questions from the audience.
