NEBRASKA CITY - Early morning thunderstorms brought damaging winds and triggered tornado warnings for River Country and areas north to Omaha.

The Omaha Public Power District was reporting 16,000 power outages by 4 a.m. and Western Iowa cooperative reported hundreds without power.

A power pole was leaning in Dawson, limbs down across the region and a semi-trailer blown over on Interstate 29.

There were multiple reports of wind gusts from 50 to 70 mph as the storm moved east across River Country. Limbs and shingle damage was reported in Johnson County.

 

 

3:31 a.m. – Public reports 55 mph winds SW of Brownville.

3:24 a.m. – Electric power out in Elliot, IA. OPPD  reports 16,000 power outages, including 6,700 power outages in Douglas, 6,900 power outages in Washington, 32 in Cass, 186 in dodge and 10 in Otoe county.

3:16  – Power pole leaning toward building in Dawson. Branches on highway.

3:26 a.m. – Large tree down in Lincoln. Heavy rain north of Nebraska City, Sidney, IA.

3:20 a.m. – overturned semi-trailer on Interstate 29 in Mills County

3:17 a.,m. – Severe thunderstorm warning to 4:15 a.m. for Atchison County, Mo., .Thunderstorms from Nebraska City to Dubois moving east. I-29. Atchison, Holt counties.

3:14 a.m. – 60 mph winds at Glenwood, Ia. 10 minutes of wind gust in Plattsmouth.

3:11 am. – tornado warning for Mills County. Radar indicates tornado near Macedonia.

3:05 a.m., - Severe thunderstorm located form northeast of Dunbar and Johnson to Summerfield moving easts at 60 mph.

3:05 a.m. – OPPD reports power outages: 5,000 in Douglas, 6,000 in Washington, 723 in Saunders, 185 in Dodge counties.

2:55 a.m. – Plattsmouth Airport reports 43 mph gust.

2:58 a.m. – Weatherbug lightning tracker shows multiple strikes at Weeping Water, Avoca, Syracuse

2:56 a.m. – limbs broke, shingles blown off near Murray.

2:44 p.m. – Public reports limbs broke, shingles blown off in Johnson County. Trained spotter reports 55 mph wind in Pawnee County.

2:41 a.m. – NWS issues severe thunderstorm warning for Mills, Montgomery, Fremont counties in SW Iowa. NW Otoe, Cass County until 3:15 a.m. Storms along line from Tekamah to Unadilla moving east at 60 mph.

2:36 a.m. - Tornado warning. NW Montgomery County, IA., NE Cass County until 3:15 am. Radar indicates rotation south of Papillion moving east at 60 mph.

2:34 a.m. – Public reports 60 mph wind at Louisville

2:31 a.m. – Public reports quarter-size hail in Lancaster County. Severe thunderstorm warning for Johnson, Nemaha, Richardson, Pawnee, and Fremont counties until 3:15 a.m.

2:28 a.m. – Severe thunderstorm warning for Mills County, Iowa,. Lancaster, Douglas, NW Otoe, Cass counties until 3:15 a.m. A line extending from Tekamah to Unadilla moving east at 60 mph

2:28 a.m. - Flooding - Water over the road at Hwy 77, Hwy 66 intersection in Saunders County.

2:23 a.m. – Public weather station reports 70 mph wind in Saunders County. 65 mph wind near Ashland.

2:12 a.m. – Tornado warning for northeast Lancaster County canceled. Tornado warnings for Douglas, Dodge counties canceled. Severe thunderstorm watch until 8 a.m.

2:15 a.m. – Tornado warning for Burt, Dodge, Washington counties.

2:05 am. – Tornado warning for Dodge, Douglas, Saunders and Washington counties.

2:05 a.m. – Personal weather station measures 60 mph wind in Lancaster County.

2 a.m. – Thunderstorm warning for Sarpy, Lancaster, Douglas, Cass counties until 2;45 a.m. At 1;56 a.m., radar indicates thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado over Ceresco, south of Wahoo, moving east at 55 mph.

1:58 a.m. – Trained spotter reports tornado in Dodge County. NWS reports tornado in Colfax County.

 

1:50 a.m. – Hamilton County Emergency management reports 60 mph wind. Weather station in Colfax County measures 60 mph wind. Public reports 70 mph wind in Fillmore County,  75 mph wind in Clay County.

1:54 a.m. – Severe thunderstorm warning includes Cass, Otoe counties.
