SYRACUSE – The Otoe County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a head-on crash east of Syracuse near the highways 2 and 50 interchange at 3:26 a.m. Sunday.
A sheriff’s office press release says a Jeep Cherokee driven by 24-year-old Michael Salvato of Overland Park, Kan., was traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes of Highway 2.
The Cherokee struck a Ford Fusion driven by 56-year-old Ann Fields of Tecumseh. Field’s vehicle was then struck by a westbound Freightliner Columbia motorcoach.
Fields was pronounced dead at the scene. Salvato was transported to Syracuse Area Health for non-life threatening injuries. The occupants of the motorcoach were not injured.
The Nebraska State Patrol assisted with crash reconstruction.
