Prison ordered on firearms charge
Talmage man accused of displaying handgun in assault of 12-year-old in Nemaha County

NEBRASKA CITY - John Wimmer, 52, of Talmage was sentenced to a year to 42 months in prison for attempted possession of a deadly weapon by a prohibited person on Oct. 14.
An arrest affidavit says an Otoe County sheriff’s deputy was assisting Nemaha County in an interview of Wimmer in Talmage. The deputy said a search of Wimmer’s residence revealed 10 firearms and multiple rounds of ammunition.
Wimmer is scheduled for a hearing Nemaha County on a 2023 firearm charge.
A Nemaha County sheriff’s deputy told the court he investigated an assault allegation involving a 12-year-old boy and found firearms in a closet. The Otoe County Sheriff’s Office seized the firearms in October.
