SIDNEY -Fremont County Emergency Management Agency and the Fremont County Disaster Coalition are organizing basic training for a Community Emergency Response Team.
The disaster coalition says CERT will promote cooperation between government agencies and faith-based groups, community service organizations and volunteers to secure assistance for Fremont County residents who are experiencing disaster.
Mandy Maher of Iowa State University Extension and Outreach said the response and recovery from the 2019 flood is an example of how CERT volunteers can be useful to their fellow citizens.
Training is scheduled most days from 6 to 9 p.m. June 3-7. A mock emergency drill is scheduled Saturday, June 8 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
