STANTON COUNTY, Neb. — A six-year-old child was critically injured after a two-vehicle collision in Stanton County on Monday.

Authorities responded at about 3:50 p.m. to the intersection of North Eastwood and N.E. Industrial Highway, according to the Stanton County Sheriff’s office. A southbound SUV failed to yield and hit an eastbound vehicle. The six-year-old passenger was ejected from the vehicle and into the ditch.

The child was taken to the hospital with possible internal injuries. Both drivers were also taken to the hospital by ambulance.

The Stanton County Sheriff’s Office said an improperly sized booster seat did not function correctly.

Norfolk Rescue, Woodland Park/Hoskins Fire and Rescue, and Stanton County Emergency Management assisted in the response efforts.
