NORFOLK, Neb. — Two brothers in northeast Nebraska were left cleaning up the ruins of their business after the storms on Friday.

“The clean up is hard, you know," Norfolk Athletic Training Facility owner Kyle Thompson said. "You work a long time to build something like this and it’s ripped right out the front of your face in five minutes."

The storm damaged the business just after Kyle and Kaylin finished work for the day.

Kaylin said it did not look like much and he went with his family before receiving a call about his building.

“He called us and said our entire building was gone. That’s when I turned around and came back, picked my brother back up," Kyle said.

Returning to the facility after the storm cleared, Kyle found his building in ruins: the roof ripped off, debris scattered everywhere.

“It’s pretty heart-wrenching," Kyle said. "We worked a long time for this. Like I said, we started in his [Kaylin’s] basement."

The facility, which opened in June of 2023, has hosted children and adults from different parts of northeast Nebraska.

Kyle said the operation had plans for summer camps during the summer.

To help with cleanup, many volunteers throughout the area helped with the clean up on Friday and Saturday.

A goFundMe has been set up to help rebuild the gym.
