NEBRASKA CITY – A $750,000 bond is set in Otoe County Court for an Otoe woman held in connection with an April 17 shooting in the village.

Deputies responded to Kirk Proplesch’s 911 call about a domestic dispute. An  ambulance took the 53-year-old man to Syracuse Area Health, where he was treated and released.

Court records say the man lives at the residence with Susan Allright, 54, who is suspected of using a .22 revolver despite previous felony convictions.

An arrest affidavit says Proplesch told investigators he had been injured around 2:30 or 3 a.m. but went back to sleep after cleaning up blood from his head.

He said he woke an hour later to see Allright standing next to his bedside and told deputies he investigated to find she was holding the revolver.

The affidavit says Proplesch had two wounds on his head. One near the front and one on the top of his head. Investigators say medical staff told them that the wounds are consistent with a gunshot. One wound was an entry wound and the other was an exit wound.

Proplesch told investigators that he made the 911 call after Allright went to sleep in a chair.  Deputies say she was asleep when they arrived at 531 Cedar Street around 5 a.m.

Allright denied knowledge about the incident when she was awakened by deputies. The arrest affidavit says she later called her employer to explain that Proplesch has falsely accused her of shooting him.
