SIDNEY - Radio listeners in the Nebraska Panhandle, southeast Wyoming and northeast Colorado who correctly predict which racer wins the 4th Annual Big Boy Big Wheel Race will also win big this spring thanks to the support of local businesses.

987 The Big Boy announced the 2024 grand prizes on Monday morning. Pedalers Corner in Sidney is giving the winner a Rambo Rooster E-Bike or an $1,800 gift card. The drawing winner will also receive an annual membership to The Training Room by The Cheyenne County Community Center.

Listeners need to submit their prediction at thebigboy987.com by Monday, April 29 to be entered in the contest. People who correctly choose the race winner will be entered into a drawing to win the grand prizes. Limit one entry per person. For full contest rules, click here

The racer lineup this year includes Justin Richards, who has won the last two big wheel races.

Sarah Sinnett, of Sidney, is competing in her first big wheel race and says she joined the competition this year because she's "sick and tired of seeing Richards and Hunter Arterburn win all the time."

"You're either cheating or you weigh too much. It's all been a downhill race and that's the only way Justin Richards has been taking this. All dynasties need to fall and this is the year the dynasty needs to fall," Sinnett said.

This year's course will start at the Cheyenne County Fairgrounds, wind through Sidney on the Deadwood Trail and finish at the Sutton Home Gallery finish line at The Center on Toledo Street. The three previous races started on the Deadwood Trail at Sapp Bros. Travel Center near Interstate 80 and ended at The Center.

Sinnett says the race on Wednesday, May 1 is going to be different than it's been in years past.

"This one might have several obstacles, so it's not about skill or how fast you are. It's how well you can evade what I'm coming at you with. You got to be intelligent to get around what I'll be throwing at ya," she said.

Lindsey Faessler joins Sinnett on the Plummer Insurance team. They will also compete against Alex Fisher and Tara Gray from the Cheyenne County Community Center; Sean McNulty and Brad Sherman will represent Pedalers Corner; and The Big Boys will have Arterburn and Cooper White on the team this year.

"[Plummer Insurance is] here just wanting to get involved in everything possible and to be in the community. This is fun. The Big Boy has been a great partner in everything that we've done. We also want to bury you a little bit. Having fun, while contributing to the community and making Hunter hurt at the same time, is all a great goal," Sinnett said.

The race begins at 11 a.m. and will be broadcast on 987 The Big Boy and on @TheBigBoy987 Facebook Page. Randy Brown and Kiersten Richards will provide commentary from the Beans & Steams Broadcast Buggy.

This race supports the Small Towns Matter bike helmet giveaway. Students, parents, and community leaders can submit their elementary school to win bicycle helmets for every student and $2,500 grant for the school, thanks to United Healthcare and News Channel Nebraska. Deadline to register is April 28.
