NEBRASKA CITY - Otoe County has contested races for county board and Syracuse school board for the 2024 election.

For the district five seat on the county board, incumbent Danny Crownover of Unadilla is challenged by Craig Bolz of Palmyra.

The race will not appear on the May primary ballot, but both candidates will advance to the general election in November.

James Parson is running unopposed for the District 4 seat on the county board.

There are three seats open and four candidates for Syracuse School Board.

Incumbent Brianne Wilhelm of Syracuse is joined on the ballot by Tyler Kreifels, Amy Wemhoff, Kathryn Szczepaniak and Aaron Lessmann.

The Syracuse School Board will not appear on the primary ballot in May, but all candidates will advance to the general election in November.

There are four candidates for five seats on the Nebraska City School Board. Incumbents Lisa Chaney and Jim Nemec are joined on the ballot by John Hodges and Sally Schreiner.

Candidates for Nebraska City mayor are incumbent Bryan Bequette and Timothy Morgan.

Ron Osovski is running unopposed for public works commissioner and Patrick Wehling is unopposed for parks commissioner.

There are no candidates for two vacancies on the Nebraska City Airport Authority.

For Syracuse City Council there are two vacancies. Incumbent Wesley Halvorsen is joined on the ballot by Robert Johnson of Syracuse.

Mayor Deb Dettmer is running unopposed.
