Multi-state fugitive behind bars in Nebraska after Lincoln girl reports sexual assault, authorities say
CASS COUNTY, Neb. (KOLN) - A man arrested in Indiana is being held in Nebraska after a Lincoln girl reported a sexual assault, according to court documents.
Victor Camarena-Enriquez, 31, is lodged in the Cass County jail, and he faces charges of first and third-degree sexual assault of a child and false imprisonment.
On Jan. 5, a Cass County woman reported that her daughter who lives in Lincoln had been sexually assaulted by Camarena-Enriquez, court records show.
Investigators interviewed the girl a few days later, and she said that the assault happened between Oct. 31, 2023 and Nov. 23, 2023. According to an arrest affidavit, she said that she had been at Camarena-Enriquez’s house when he locked her in a bedroom and assaulted her.
Police also discovered that Camarena-Enriquez may have been speaking with the girl about inappropriate matters over social media. A search warrant has been issued for Camarena-Enriquez’s phone, and police are waiting to confirm or deny that report.
While looking for Camarena-Enriquez, authorities found that he was a wanted man in Georgia. According to the affidavit, the girl told police that Camarena-Enriquez had mentioned to her that he ran from Georgia.
Camarena-Enriquez was later arrested on Jan. 27 by the U.S. Marshals in Indiana. He has since been transported back to Nebraska and was booked into jail on Tuesday.
On Thursday, a Cass County judge set his bond at 10% of $1,000,000. He’s due back in court on March 5.
