TECUMSEH – Matthew Pokorny, a 33-year-old inmate at the Tecumseh State Correctional Institute, was sentenced in Johnson County Monday to five to 10 years for second-degree assault in 2022.

The county attorney’s office says Pokorny assaulted a caseworker at the prison. His sentence is to be served consecutive to other sentences he is serving. He is serving time for terroristic threats and felony cruelty to animals in Douglas County and assault on a officer in Lancaster County. He has a parole hearing scheduled in March.

On Monday, February 12, 2024, Johnson County District Court Judge Rick A. Schreiner sentenced inmate Matthew Pokorny to 5-10 years incarceration on a count of Assault in the Second Degree.

On July 7, 2022, inmate Matthew Pokorny assaulted a TSCI caseworker. The sentence is to be served consecutive to any other sentences inmate Pokorny is currently serving.

The case was investigated by the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services and the Johnson County Attorney’s Office.
