FREMONT, Neb. -- A man the was previously from Fremont received prison time after he was convicted for meth.

U.S. Attorney Susan Lehr said 50-year-old Troy Brewer, formerly of Fremont, was sentenced in federal court in Lincoln on Thursday. He was convicted for possession with intent to distribute five grams or more of methamphetamine. Brewer will serve 30 months in prison with a four-year term of supervised release after. There is no parole in the federal system.

According to court documents, Brewer was in his vehicle when Fremont Police talked to him on Aug. 2, 2022. The officers searched the vehicle and found a pill bottle that had 14 grams of meth.

Officials said they searched the car more and found Ziploc baggies in the center console and a digital scale with drug residue on it inside a backpack. When Brewer pled guilty, he admitted he knew the drugs were in the vehicle and that he intended to sell them.

This case was investigated by the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office and the Fremont Police Department.
