AUBURN – The Nemaha County Sheriff’s Office reports a fatality accident on Highway 75 south of Auburn Tuesday.
A sheriff’s office press release says a southbound Chevrolet Malibu driven by 15-year-old Cassandra Edwards of Humboldt crossed into the northbound lane to avoid a vehicle slowing to turn on 723 Road.
The Malibu was struck on the passenger side by a northbound Kenworth truck and semi-trailer driven by Darryl Jenkins of Carolville, Iowa.
Amber Booth, a 41-year-old back seat passenger in the Malibu, was ejected and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Edwards and a front seat passenger were transported to Nemaha County Hospital. A medical helicopter then transported Edwards to an Omaha hospital.
Auburn Fire and Rescue, Nemaha Fire and Stella Fire responded.
