JOHNSON - The top seeded Eagles faced the second-seeded Tri-County Trojans in the finals of the Pioneer Conference Championship. 

The Tri-County Trojans were seeking revenge after losing to the Johnson-Brock Eagles 40-27 earlier in the season. Tri-County started off hot in the first quarter, outscoring the Eagles 13-7. The Eagles fought back hard and regained the lead going into halftime with the score of 23-22.  

 

During the third quarter, JB extended their lead 33-26. The Eagles found themselves in a scoring drought in the 4th, as they could only come up with 2 points, while allowing the Trojans to tie up the game 35-35, sending the game to overtime.  This would be the first overtime the Eagles have had this season. 

Every possession during the overtime period was crucial. 
With both teams struggling to get a good offensive possession, the Eagles found themselves on the defensive end of the court during the majority of the period. 
Senior, Sloan Pelican, displayed a strong defensive stop, with a steal that ended with a layup to gain a two-point advantage for the Eagles with only seconds remaining in the game.
 The Trojans were forced to foul Sophomore, Brody Koehler. Koehler, a 80% free throw shooter on the season, made  of 2 free throws, giving the Eagles a three-point lead, and ultimately, the win. 

The final score was 38-35, the closest game the Eagles have encountered all season. 

Johnson-Brock was awarded the Pioneer Conference Championship title for the second year in a row, and advancing to 19-0 on the season. 

 

Junior, Camden Dalinghaus, lead the Eagles’ offense with 16 points, while Brody Koehler added 10.  Sloan Pelican contributed 5 points, and lead JB with 6 rebounds, 6 assists, and 3 steals. 

The Eagles have a tough matchup this Thursday, against the Freeman Falcons.
