NEBRASKA CITY - The Nebraska City City Council’s agenda for its 6 p.m. meeting today includes an application to build a “fort” in Kearney Hill Park, as well as golf and pool rates for 2024.

The utilities recommend replacement of a bucket truck that was totaled in an accident on Sept. 22.

Houses at 502 Second St. and 516 N. 13th St. are recommended for demolition.

The settlement offer from the Nebraska Railroad Museum is also on the agenda.

The Kearney Hill Neighbors are seeking to have a fort-themed pavilion constructed at Kearney Hill Park.

Rex Nelson said the Kearney Hill Neighbors are thrilled at the city’s recent improvements to the ball park and playground equipment and expect the fort-style pavilion to take advantage of the excellent view of the Missouri River basin.

He said the three-story pavilion could be used for lounging, sight-seeing, picnics and small event performances.

The organization would seek grants to cover the cost of about $35,000, but would ask the city to hire contractors,  handle the finances and install utilities.

Parks and Rec Director Nick Schmitz proposes a 5 percent rate increases for the aquatic center and Wildwood Golf Course.

The proposes golf course rates are $1,395 for a family membership with cart, $1,035 for adult with cart and $610 for junior with cart.

Green fees are $37 for all ages with cart.

A family pass  to the pool would be $215 for six persons in the household. The daily rate is a 16 percent increase to $7 for youth and $8 for adult.
