OPD arrest man after stabbing that killed one person
OMAHA, Neb. -- Omaha Police have arrested a man in connection to a homicide that happened Wednesday evening.
The Omaha Police Department said they identified the suspect as 48-year-old Alvaro Escamilla Sr. who stabbed and killed 55-year-old Steve Tangeman.
On Wednesday evening, shortly before 8 p.m., OPD said they started investigating the homicide that happened near S 15th and Y Streets.
Police said that when they responded to the scene, they found Tangeman suffering from a stab wound.
Tangeman was taken to a local hospital in critical condition. He was later pronounced dead.
Escamilla was taken into custody and booked into Douglas County Corrections.
He was booked for manslaughter, use of a weapon to commit a felony, felon in possession of a weapon, possession of methamphetamine and out standing warrants unrelated to the homicide investigation.
