OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - Omaha Police say a man faces a host of charges after allegedly stabbing an Uber driver and holding a store employee against his will.

Officers were called to a report of a robbery at the Family Dollar store at 30th and Sprague at 7:34 p.m. Wednesday.

They were told a robber was fighting with employees inside the store. Officers were able to arrest William Dimas II, 28.

Police determined that after an Uber driver gave Dimas a ride to the store, he demanded the key fob from the driver and then stabbed him in the neck and chest. Dimas then ran inside the store with the knife and held an employee against his will.

Other employees defended themselves from Dimas with a metal pole.

Medics transported the Uber driver, a 42-year-old man, to a hospital with injuries described as serious but not life threatening.

Dimas was booked in the Douglas County jail for attempted robbery, two counts of use of a weapon to commit a felony, false imprisonment, and two warrants.
